INTRODUCTION
Department of Biotechnology is a prominent path breaking educational
venture of
Kuriakose
Elias College, aimed at cultivating talents, and skills
and providing knowledge in a truly competitive world
where the future of human progress depends much on the
progress in computer science and Biotechnology.
Fundamental biological sciences are now being integrated and
transformed for effective study and use to the integral
development of mankind. Biotechnology is the application
of scientific and engineering principles to the
processing of materials by biological agents to provide
goods and services to mankind. The demand for
biotechnologists in a wide range of manufacturing and
service industries are increasing and their specialized
expertise reduce the costs of production compared to
other traditional methods.
HISTORY
Post graduate course in Biotechnology, coordinated by Department of
Zoology was started in October 2002 with the desire of
making an enthusiastic new generation in the field of
Biotechnology. The Department is well established with
all necessary facilities required for post graduate
course. Our facilities are accessible, used optimally
and well managed. Students are the strength of our
department and they keep the campus vibrant and young.
We strive to create an academic environment in which
professionally creative and socially acceptable values
are upheld. The talents and drive of our students and
faculty continue to achieve higher goals. Six batches of
students have passed out successfully and the 8th
batch joined the department during the 2009-2010
academic year.
VISION
To generate in the young aspirants a creative approach in the field of
modern Life science.
MISSION

To provide an atmosphere which would nurture in
students creative intelligence and social commitment.

To guide the young generation in exploring the unlimited
environs of Biological research.
