INTRODUCTION

The computer centre is a state of the art facility to cater to the needs of the academic as well as project cum research activities of an educational institution. It provides an ambience conducive for learning and acquiring new skills.

K.E College has a well equipped computer centre with more than sixty latest computers and other modern amenities spareded over a floor space of 2000 sq.ft.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Computer Centre of K.E.College is supportive service centre helping he college to attain its Vision and Mission. The vision of the college is to become a centre par excellence of learning and the computer centre is turned to fulfill the vision.

 

The aims and objectives for establishing this computer centre can be summarized as follows:        

  • To support Graduate and Post-Graduate teachers, as well as students.

  • To support capacity building through workshops and seminar presentations.

  • To support staff and students' research through data analysis and Internet browsing.

  • To offer consultancy services in the area of computer literacy to the host community.

  • To provide technical aids and minor repairs on both hardware and software to the college community.

  • To expand the horizon of knowledge through networking.

INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES

 

The College computer center has two Computer Labs based on Windows platforms with most modern facilities having 30 computers each. All computers are networked with peer to peer network architecture. Laser Printers, Inkjet Printer, Scanner, and other peripherals are connected to the network.

 

One lab is primarily meant for students of B.Sc. Computer Applications, B.Sc. Electronic Equipment Maintenance, B.Com with Computer Application and B.Sc. physics. The other one is a common lab with Intel Dual Core systems with LCD monitor, mainly used by students of various courses such as M.Sc. Applied Statistics with Computer Applications, M.S.W., M.B.A., M.Sc Chemistry, B.A. History, B.Sc. Botany, B.Sc. Zoology and  B.L.I.Sc .

Computer lab has dedicated BSNL Broadband Internet line of up to 2 Mbps speed, connected to more than 30 terminals throughout the college. Students and faculty have access internet after the regular and free working hours. Students are encouraged to hunt for material required for seminars and dissertations through the internet. They are given training to access Websites and e-journals.

Multimedia Room - The computer lab maintains a multimedia room with the seating capacity of 40 numbers. This multimedia room is used for conducting classes and seminars for both PG and UG students with the help of LCD projectors, laptop computer, DVD players etc. Our students are being given a really up-to-date mode of learning experience. Teaching efficacy has been considerably enhanced through these.
