Library

Library is a treasure house of knowledge, and a well-equipped, efficiently functioning library is imperative to each centre of learning. The college library having a space of 11,000 sq. ft., and has a collection of 41363 books, 84 periodicals and journals on all relevant subjects. Back Volumes of Periodicals and Journals are bounded and kept for reference. A Career Guidance Cell is also operated in the library to give the students information regarding career and job opportunities. Staff and students of neighbouring institutions also avail these facilities. The computerized information on library facilitates the use of library with regard to the availability of books, its issue and return. The library works from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. A Photocopier system is installed for the use of the Faculty and Students.

 

College Library Rules

1.   All students are members of the college Library.

2.   The Library Timings will be as under :

Class Days:

Periodicals and Reference section : 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Selection and issue of Books:

Boys: 12.30 noon to 2.00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Girls: 12.30 noon to 2.00 p.m. on Tuesday and Saturday

Return of Books : 9.30 a.m to 1.30 p.m. on the respective days.

Non-class Days:

Periodicals and reference section : 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Issue and return of Books:

Boys : 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Girls : 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

     On Saturdays library will be closed at 4.00 p.m.

3.   Silence must be strictly observed in the library.

4.   Students may freely select books from the shelves.  But they should be careful in replacing the books so that the books are not misplaced.  In case of any difficulty, the books may be laid flat on the shelves.  Please remember misplaced books cannot be easily traced out.

5.   Students are allowed to take only one note book into the library.  Other books, umbrella etc.  should be kept in the shelves for personal effects at the entrance.

6.   Students will be permitted to take two books on loan at a time.  Books in the Reference Section will not be lent out.

7.   Students will be responsible for any damage caused to books.  Pencilmarks, ink-stain, etc. made in a book will be treated as damage.  When a book is issued to a student, he / she may point out to the librarian or his assistants any damage / defect noted concerning a book; otherwise it will be presumed that the book was intact when it was issued.

8.   If a book is damaged or lost by a student he / she will have to replace it or pay its current price and postage.  Out-of-print books may be charged at higher rates.

9.   The period of loan  is 14 days.  Books may be re-issued for a further period of 14 days if there is no other demand for them. Absence from the college will not be accepted as an excuse for delay in the return of books.  The librarian may recall any book at any time even before the due date.

10. Failure to return book on the due date entails a student to pay a fine of Rs.1.00 per day of delay except for intervening  Sundays and public holidays.

11. Each student will be issued two Reader’s Tickets.  Books can be borrowed against them.  Students must ensure that they get back their Reader’s Tickets when they return the books.  A sum of Rs. 5.00 will be charged for the loss of each Reader’s Ticket.  This does not, however, absolve the holder from the responsibility for books borrowed against tickets lost.  Duplicates may be issued 15 days after the report of the loss.

12. Students are required to return all Library books before March 31 every year.  Final year students shall return their tickets also by that date.  Defaulters will be charged the cost of books and a fine of Rs.1.00 per day per item for the entire period of delay.

13. Students shall not exchange books borrowed from the library.

14. Students coming to the library should show if demanded, their identity cards to the staff. 

     Without Identity Card library service may be refused to them.
